How to create a list of images…

With addition information on adding sections and notes to an image list.

 

1. Creating a list of images is really quite simple. First find an image that you want as part of your image list.

 

2. Once you have found the image you want to use, click on the big blue “+Add to List” button

 

3. You will be given a drop down menu. Type in a name for your new list and click the blue “Add” button.

 

 

4. To add more images just go to the next image and click on the big blue “+Add to List” button and select the list where you want the image to appear.

 

 

5. Continue to add items that way and soon you will have a nice basic list of images.

 

 

Adding Sections to An Image List

 

1. To get started go to the list where you want to add sections. Then click on the “Rearrange & add items” button.

 

2. Click on the “Add section” button. Drag and drop items you want from “Sec. 1” to your new section “Sec. 2”

 

3. When you have the items you want in the new section you can now edit that section. Highlight the section you want to edit (below image area G) and Click on the “Edit Section” button and you will be given an edit window.

4. From the edit window you can give your section a name (area A), give your list a discription (area B), chose the look of each section (area C). Once you are done with your edits remember to click on the “Edit section” button (area E) or your work will be lost.

 

5. You can chose to not give a section a name or a description. This can be helpful when you want to group together items that are similar but want to use different sizes.

6. Simply edit the section and give the section a new size but no name or description. This is how two sections can look like only one section. Only you the editor of the list will see the sections.

7. That is all there is to creating a beautiful and seamless list with various sections and sizes.

 

Adding Notes to an Image List

1. You can only add notes to an image list if you have chosen to display the images in one or two columns. Notes do not work for three column lists or sections. However it is pretty simple to add notes.

 

2. Just click on the “Edit note” button and type the text you want to appear in the notes area.

 

This is an example of an image list with notes and sections. However there are many ways to play with different styles and formats. So, have fun, explore and always feel free to ask someone ‘how did you do that?’. They might just be willing to share a new way of doing things.

How to create a List of Lists

1. Go to a list that you want on your “List of Lists”

 

2. Scroll down until you see the blue “+Add To List” button”

 

3. Click on that button and you will be given a drop down menu.

 

4. You can now add the list to a list you have already created or type in a name for a new list you want to start and click the “Add” button.

 

5. That is all there is to creating a List of Lists. You can now add whatever you would like to that list just by visiting a list and clicking on the “+Add to list” button.

How to set another Listal member as an editor of a List

 

Setting someone as an editor of  a list will allow that user to add items to the list, edit notes and edit comments. Any votes for the list are then shared with all the editors of the list.

However, editors do not receive any updates regarding the list. They will not be notified of any new comments or votes the list receives.

While setting an editor is pretty simple it is one thing that I always had trouble doing correctly.

 

1. First you can only set an editor for a list that you created or are already set as an editor for that list. So go to the list that you want to add a new editor and click ‘edit’.

 

2. This will bring up all the settings for your list. Under “Options” you will see a box called “List edit access” this is where you will want to type in the username for the Listal member that you want to let edit the list.

 

 

Now this is where most people run into trouble and brings us to…

 

How to Find a Listal Members Username

 

One way is to just visit the persons profile and look for their user name in the URL of their profile. In this case the user name is “pumpkinate”…. simple right?

Well, not always so simple. Don’t confuse a Listal member’s ‘screen name’ and their user name. In this case the members screen name is “the giraffe” and his user name is “mrdissonance”.

 

If you want to really make sure you have the correct username, click to send the Listal Member a message and copy the username in the “Recipient” area.

Now, I can copy and past the username into the list I want to make “the giraffe” an editor.

Here I have made two people editors of this list and seperarted the names by a comma.

 

Now just click “Save Changes” and your editors will now be able to help edit your list.

Why am I not getting very many votes?

 

So, you created a list, made it public and no one seems to care. It can be a rough voting world out there but here are a few tips.

First let’s look at the list that this is from…

 

1. Well first is that I have chosen an obscure subject that even most Film Noir snobs would never vote on.

2. I also haven’t shared this list with any other social network. So, any friends not on Listal have no idea about this list.

3. I haven’t given any information about the films. Even posting a screen shot from the film will go a long way to get votes.

So… really it doesn’t look like I put much effort into making this list or just don’t care about the subject. So, why should anyone else care?

Adding links to lists that are similar to your list is always nice but did you ask the person you are linking to if you could link to their list?

There are plenty of reasons why lists simply don’t get votes. Even list that I think are great might not get very many votes.

Also, if your not very active on Listal members might not even know your around. So, explore… vote… make comments and check out the forums.

Why is my list not getting any votes?

 

1. The first thing your going to want to do is make sure that your list is set to “Public”. If the list is set to “Private” no one can see the list and can’t vote on the list.

 

2. To set your list to public, click on the “Edit Button”

3. Click on the “Public” option and then save the list.

Your list should now be visible to the public and people may now vote on the list.

What does Blocking a user do…

If you have blocked someone…

1. They can not send you a message
2. They can not comment on your profile
3. They can not comment on any of your lists
4. They can not comment on any images you have posted

The person you blocked can still view all the items you post and comments that you make. So, it doesn’t make you invisible to them. Just make it so they can not contact you in any way.

Anyone you have blocked can still respond to any thread you create in the public forums.

How Do I Block A User…

 

All you have to do to block a user is to visit their profile page and click on “Block”.

The “Block” button will change to “Unblock” and your done. No fancy pop-windows or anything… one click… no fuss.

Note: I would never block Pumpkinate he is just being a good sport for this demo
